Eating Disorder Recovery Counselling

Rebuilding Positive Relationships With Food & Body

Eating Disorder Recovery Coaching involves supporting clients Holistically through their unique, individual recovery process from Dysfunctional Eating.

A Holistic Approach involves supporting the individual beyond Nutrition: including habitual, mental, & emotional guidance.

My style of ED Recovery Counseling is strongly guided by the client’s individual goals and needs. As I am a Holistic Nutritionist, I combine nutritional teachings with EDIT (Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy) techniques, and with my training in Eating Psychology, to provide a whole hearted and all-encompassing approach that is unique to each client. I will always meet the client where he/she is at in their Recovery process and we then, work our way forward, together. I make myself as available as possible to my clients so that they can genuinely feel supported and guided, and so that they know they’ve got someone right there in their court rooting for them!

I am a real person. I do not have a set program to put my clients through because every client is unique and different. I am upfront, transparent, tough when I need to be, and genuinely just want my clients to thrive.
And I know first hand what it’s like to be chained to the Dysfunctional Eating tendencies.

Often in our initial session, my ED clients will tell me how relieved they are to simply be able to talk freely about their struggles with eating & body image. THIS is such a powerful place to start.

If you hesitate to seek support because of shame, regret, guilt, self-blame, and embarrassment, let me tell you (and shout from the mountaintops) that we MUST start somewhere and dear friend,
You Are Safe With Me

Some Concepts from the EDIT Philosophy:

  • Love Your Self – today, no matter what you weigh

  • Be True To Your Self – trust intuition, answers are within

  • Express Your Self – balance mood instead of using food

  • Give To Your Self – fill your own well and be well

  • Believe In Your Self – live free today and every day

The Eating Disorder Recovery Counselling Process Is:

  • Evidence-Based — incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Solution-Focused — with an overall goal of lasting freedom from eating disorder behaviours

  • Client-Centered — where the client learns to access the voice of their own “Intuitive Therapist” to guide their recovery

  • Mindfulness-Based — through compassionate counsel, we work to shift the eating disorder mindset and behaviours into intuitive wisdom and actions of recovery

  • Transpersonal — learning to know one’s holistic or “True Self” as a Soul-Heart-Mind-Body connected individual

Eating Disorder Recovery Counselling is Best Suited For:

  • Individuals who are experiencing mild-to-moderate eating disorder symptoms, which present no immediate medical risks

  • Individuals who have been through ED treatment and are looking for further support, accountability & nutritional guidance

  • Those looking to heal past eating disorder trauma

  • Individuals who do not have an ED diagnosis, but are struggling with a dysfunctional relationship with food and are ready for tools and support

  • People who feel “disconnected” from their food and eating behaviours

  • Parents (friends/family) looking for guidance with struggling youth/children

  • Individuals who would like to build a positive relationship with food and body

Note: EDIT™ treatment is not focused on medical stabilization — this method guides clients to decipher the “messages” of their eating disorders by becoming curious about their underlying cause. EDIT™ techniques offer interventions to reduce eating disorder behaviours, but true symptom resolution is a natural outcome when clients address the root cause of their eating disorders. As EDIT™ treatment progresses, holistic healing occurs at all levels of the True Self — physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. EDIT™ is a certified therapy designed by Dr. Dorie McCubbrey in 1995 and has been a successful method of practice for over 20 years.

The Eating Disorder Recovery Counselling work that I do can truly help my clients find a strength forward that they didn’t know they had. And I’m not giving it to them. They find it and build it on their own. I am there to guide, support, hold them accountable, and cheer them on along the way.

That very first step is often the hardest one.
Let’s do this.
